Mike Strickler is a California-based consultant specializing in practical color management and process control for printers, prepress providers, designers, and brand owners. Recent projects have included implementation of advanced n-color systems for offset, digital, and flexographic printing for pharmaceutical, food, and beverage packaging. In his spare time he indulges a thirty-year interest in photographing landscapes and cities with “very large” cameras.
Extended-gamut multicolor printing has gained considerable traction in the package and label markets. As for real-world implementation, it’s a patchwork of partial solutions and misconceptions. It isn’t enough to focus on output gamut and simulation of solid brand colors—we must look at image quality, conversion of complex elements, and flexibility to tackle diverse tasks across packaging, fine art, and publishing markets. Attend this session and gain insights into both the challenges and promises that lie ahead for this important print technology.
